Minutes of 2002-10-21

Many people were on travel, so there was only a small group meeting on 10/21. Present at the meeting: Jing-Young Jung, Steve Lidia, Steve Marks, and Christoph Steier.

Christoph first presented a comparison of the field integral measurements with a straight coil on the bench (data from Steve Marks) for EPUs in sector 4+11 with the feed forward tables, which were measured with beam. The agreement is reasonably good (about 20%) and the qualitative behaviour is identical (see plots).

In addition we looked at all measurements of the derivative of the horizontal field integral (vertical kick) with respect to x. Previously, looking at only one such set of data (for minimum gap at sector 11), it appeared as if the shape and the amplitude of this skew quadrupole like term was consistent with the beam size variation. For the EPU in sector 4 and for other gaps this was not true anymore (see plots). So the initial agreement seemed to be coincidental.

We than talked about the action item lists from the last two meetings and saw that several items still remain to be done (including the inspection for iron in the vicinity of the permanent magnet structure). It was mentioned that the connection to Joel Chavanne has been established (that was another action item) with results still pending.

New action items

Next meeting will be in two weeks: Monday, November 4.

Cheers, Christoph
