Monitoring for Symptoms
Do not come on-site for the ALS User Meeting if you have had any new or unexplained symptoms of COVID-19 (not attributed to a previously known medical condition) in the last 24 hours. Symptoms you may regularly have due to seasonal allergies should not be considered.
Do not come on-site for the ALS User Meeting if you tested positive for COVID-19 within the past 5 days. Prior to coming to the User Meeting, attendees are encouraged to assess if they are experiencing any of the following symptoms. If they are, they may not come to the event.
- Fever (greater than or equal to 100 degrees F)* or chills
- New or unexplained cough
- New or unexplained shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
- Fatigue that is unusual or more severe than normal
- New or unexplained muscle or body aches
- Headache
- New or unexplained loss of taste or smell
- Sore throat
- Congestion or runny nose
- Nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea
*Taking your temperature is recommended as the best way to determine fever, but is not required.
COVID-19 Supplies
Hand sanitizer and face coverings are available to all meeting attendees in venues throughout the User Meeting. Face coverings are currently voluntary if you have not had a close contact or were exposed to someone who tested positive or has COVID symptoms within the last 10 days. Please contact a User Meeting organizer or als-admin@lbl.gov if you have questions.
Guidance for Berkeley Lab Personnel
- Isolate and do not attend the User Meeting if you have symptoms or tested positive in the last 5 days.
- Follow CDC guidelines for isolation, which includes masking for 10 full days.
- Call Health Services at 510-486-6266 for specific guidance.
- Notify als-admin@lbl.gov and be prepared to identify situations where you may have had close contact (<6 foot distance for more than 15 minutes in a 24 hour period) with others at the event.
- You no longer need to contact Health Services or quarantine if you had close contact with or have been exposed to someone with COVID or who tested positive, as long as you are asymptomatic. You must follow CDC guidelines for exposure, which include wearing a mask for 10 full days when around others indoors and getting tested after Day 5 following the exposure.
Guidance for Personnel from Other Institutions or Businesses
- Isolate and do not attend the event if you have symptoms or tested positive in the last 5 days.
- Contact your health care provider and/or employer for guidance.
- Notify als-admin@lbl.gov.
- If you had a close contact with or were exposed to someone who tested positive or has COVID symptoms, you do not need to quarantine, as long as you are asymptomatic. Follow CDC guidelines for exposure, which include wearing a mask for 10 full days when around others indoors and getting tested after Day 5 following the exposure. Follow requirements of your employer if their requirements differ.
- If additional guidance is needed, follow CDC guidance on isolation and precautions for people with COVID-19.
Private Individuals (not associated with an institution, DOE facility, business, or other government entity)
- Isolate and do not attend the event if you have symptoms or tested positive in the last 5 days.
- Contact your health care provider for guidance.
- Notify als-admin@lbl.gov.
- If you had a close contact with or were exposed to someone who tested positive or has COVID symptoms, you do not need to quarantine, as long as you are asymptomatic. Follow CDC guidelines for exposure, which include wearing a mask for 10 full days when around others indoors and getting tested after Day 5 following the exposure. Follow the guidance of your health care provider, if their recommendations differ.
