ALS online user forums and town halls provide updates on the ALS operating status, ALS capabilities and developments, the ALS-U Project, plans for the upcoming User Meeting, and other issues relevant to users and staff. The forums are offered in a virtual, web conferencing format to engage with our many non-local users. Questions and discussion following the presentations are welcome.

The ALS is currently in the midst of a three-month shutdown, and another three-month shutdown is anticipated to begin in early July 2021.
Over the next few years, shutdowns will likely be longer than in recent years to enable critical work necessary for the ALS-U Project, including the installation of the new accumulator ring, which is required to inject beam into the storage ring of the upgraded ALS, and the replacement of aging infrastructure in our 30-year-old facility in preparation for the new storage ring’s installation.
This user town hall will provide the most up-to-date information on the schedule, explain the motivations behind decisions, discuss principles and strategies for future decision-making, and answer your questions.
We will post the presentation slides and an FAQs document to the ALS website after the event.
In advance of the event, please share your questions and concerns here.
