Our UEC is continually adapting to the rapidly changing status quo as the COVID-19 pandemic continues. After careful considerations and discussions with ALS management, we have decided to change the format of the 2020 ALS User Meeting to a virtual (online) meeting.
Here are some logistical aspects of the virtual meeting:
- The User Meeting will be on August 25–28. Adding one more day allows us to have shorter sessions, which is necessary due to its virtual nature.
- It will be held over Zoom.
- We are still working on the detailed schedule, keeping in consideration logistical aspects such as different time zones and “zoom fatigue.”
- The meeting will still feature plenary sessions, poster slam/competition, awards, poster sessions, focus workshops and tutorials, and the Lightsources 101 Tutorial.
More details will follow over the following months.
Moreover, the UEC is having regular conversations with ALS management regarding various other COVID-19-related aspects such as the safe return to user operation, doctoral affiliate fellowship programs, and the shutdown schedule. Please refer to the messages from the ALS management for status updates.
