Operations (PSO)
PSO staff collaborate with and support researchers using ALS-operated beamlines. The degree of collaboration can range from technical assistance with the beamline to full partnership in developing new research programs, scientific capabilities, and endstations. PSO also strives to expand the ALS scientific program and broaden its user base by inventing new techniques, performing demonstration experiments, giving presentations, and publishing results.
Development (PSD)
PSD staff are responsible for the construction of new beamlines and endstations, the development of new experimental techniques in collaboration with PSO scientific staff, and the maintenance and development of the necessary infrastructure to support these activities. PSD also participates in long-term planning for the ALS scientific and technical program.
