After discussion among the ALS Users’ Executive Committee (UEC) and with ALS management, the UEC is recommending establishing a new user award, to be awarded for the first time at the upcoming User Meeting: an ALS Early Career Award, to recognize significant scientific contributions from early-career investigators who have performed original and independent research at the ALS. The winner of the Early Career Award is given the opportunity to deliver a scientific talk at the plenary session of the User Meeting. The Awardee must be no more than twelve years post receiving their highest degree.
To institute this new award, a change must be made to the Users’ Association Charter (simply including the name of the new award in the award list in the charter). That change is highlighted in Section D here:
A ballot for you to vote on this change to the charter is here:
Please make your voice heard and vote on this change! The ballot will be open until May 10.
Thanks much,
Your 2024 UEC
