ALS users are invited to submit proposals to host workshops at the upcoming ALS User Meeting to be held October 3-5, 2016 at Berkeley Lab. Students are also encouraged to suggest workshop topics of particular interest to them. We will do our best to cover the most relevant requests.
The workshops will provide detailed presentations and in-depth discussions on topics related to synchrotron-based science. They may focus on scientific topics, technique development, or photon-science theory. We are particularly interested in proposals on rapidly evolving scientific topics and future directions for the ALS/ALS-U, and encourage increasing student and postdoc participation in workshops, e.g. by inviting them to give oral presentations.
The proposals will be evaluated and selected by the ALS Users’ Executive Committee (UEC) according to their perceived relevance. Given the limited number of workshop spaces available, we may merge proposals with a similar theme.
Please submit your proposal to host a workshop using the following outline:
- Workshop title
- Name and affiliations of all organizers
- Your research field and work
- Duration of the workshop (half-day, full-day, 1-1/2 day)
- Short abstract (one paragraph) covering relevance and targeted audience
Please submit your proposals by email to the User Meeting co-chairs, Fanny Rodolakis (rodolakis@anl.gov) and Robert Streubel (streubel@lbl.gov) by the submission deadline of March 8, 2016.
