Student Poster Competition: Neville Smith Student Poster Award
Neville Smith was the Scientific Director for the ALS from 1994 to 2006. He was known not only for his scientific expertise, particularly in photoemission spectroscopy, but also for his wicked wit. As a great supporter of young scientists, his contribution is acknowledged by the naming of the Student Poster Award in his honor, beginning in 2014. Read about last year’s winners here: 2021 User Meeting Award Recipients.
In the virtual User Meeting, attendees interested in seeing a particular poster will be able to join and leave its session just like in a “normal” in-person poster session. Furthermore, all student competition participants are asked to take part in a “Poster Slam”—a one-minute/one-slide oral preview of their poster just prior to the poster session.
