Steve,
It is great how you tried to include everybody’s input into the ALS management, such as at ALSU discussions during ALS User Meetings. Thank you for this good example that sets a standard for others to follow.
All the best,
Eric Shirley
Dear Steve,
Thank you for your leadership in making the ALS such a successful user facility for soft x-ray science. Your passion, vision, and ideas have had a major impact on the facility, from being the chair of the Users’ Executive Committee at the very beginning to being the director over the last decade.
Beyond your leadership role, you have tirelessly pushed soft x-ray XPCS to tap into the coherence of x-rays for a new class of science—an active field that strengthens the foundation for the next phase of the ALS after its upgrade. Thank you for being an outstanding scientist, a visionary scientific leader, and a colleague and a friend.
Congratulations!
ZX Shen
Steve: Thanks for your scientific and administrative leadership of the ALS, your pursuit of future opportunities, your kindness and fairness to all, and your pursuit and support for extending career opportunities to an ever broader scientific and technical community. David Attwood |
