The ALS Users’ Executive Committee invites nominations from everyone—including students, postdocs, PIs, and staff—for the 2019 ALS User Meeting Awards. Don’t miss this opportunity to nominate a deserving colleague or group for an award and the associated cash prizes!
- David A. Shirley Award for Outstanding Scientific Achievement at the ALS. Recognize the ALS-based science of a fellow user or colleague.
- Klaus Halbach Award for Innovative Instrumentation at the ALS. Nominate the person or team who designed and built the instruments that enable your research.
- Tim Renner User Services Award for Outstanding Support to the ALS User Community. Nominate a particularly helpful staff member who made your experience at the ALS better.
The winner of the Shirley Award will deliver a talk on their work at the ALS User Meeting, which takes place October 1–3, 2019 in Berkeley.
Nominations are active for only one year, so previous nominators are encouraged to update their nomination package and submit again. For more information about the awards or the nomination and selection procedure, please email alsuec@lbl.gov.
A list of previous award recipients is available here.
Students presenting in the poster session at the User Meeting are eligible for the Neville Smith Student Poster Award, named after the former Scientific Director for the ALS (1994-2006). More information on this award will be provided with the User Meeting registration opens.
